The Yard Management System is a client-server based system for monitoring a container's Life Cycle, the stages the container goes through while in the yard. The objective of Container Life Cycle management is to minimize the time required for a container to complete it's life cycle.
The cycle begins when the container arrives at a yard and ends when the container leaves a yard. While in the yard the location and/or status of a container may change one or more times. The container cannot begin a new life cycle until the previous life cycle is completed, (that is, its departure is recorded). Over time, the same container may arrive and depart from the yard many times. The Yard Management System identifies and tracks each container life cycle by carrier code, container number, and arrival date and time.
Parts of the System
The Yard Management System is made up of several modules:
- Container Processing: This module includes the main screen called the Monitor screen, where you can view details on the status, location and dwell time of containers in the facility. In this module you also record container events, such as pre-arrival, arrivals, spot containers and departures.
- Notification: In this module you can inquire online or via report regarding who was notified for which events and when. You can also generate an on-demand notification if a provider requests it.
- Detention Reporting: In this module you can calculate charges associated with a container's departure from a facility.
- Management Reports: In this module you can generate a variety of reports, for example, to verify yard data and on notifications sent, live unload arrivals and exceptions, and system table listings.
- Configuration: In this module the System Administrator maintains system tables, user security and profiles (which control the look of the monitor screen), and customize screens.
